Eastern Sierra

The unique landscape of the Eastern Sierra was shaped over millions of years by ancient volcanos and glaciers. The resulting scene is one best described by John Muir, “I never beheld a place where beauty was written in plainer characteristics or where the tender fostering hand of the great gardener was more directly visible”.  Truckee Architect

An architect designing within this landscape requires a carefully crafted approach that considers every site element as an integral part of the living experience. The north side of the house engages the landscape and uses the thermal mass of the earth to regulate temperature. The southern exposure is glazed to encourage passive solar heat gain with large operable openings to allow for natural ventilation. Incorporating native stone and wood into a steel framed structure, this home creates a seamless indoor / outdoor living experience. Tahoe Architect Lake Tahoe Architect
